Biblical mineral Beryl discovered in southern ZimbabweHarare(ZimEye)A precious gem named in the Bible prophecy as the eighth mineral that will form the foundations of the new Jerusalem city, has been found in Zimbabwe’s southern town of Beitbridge. A new source of wealth has now been availed to Zimbabweans which yet the country’s Mines Minister has not informed the nation of its value and also discounted it as ‘not precious’.

Announcing the find Zimbabwe’s minister of Mines Obert Mpofu said the Beitbridge area does not have diamonds but the Emerald-type of stone which is also described as Beryl or aquamarine. Mpofu was quoted by Radio VOP on Friday stating: “Tests by our mining engineers have confirmed that there are no diamonds in Beitbridge. Villagers were only scrambling for aquamarine,” Mpofu said appearing as if stating that it was valueless.

But an investigation carried out by ZimEye has reveald that the Beryl is actually a precious gem whose value goes into thousands of dollars per gram weight. At the time of writing, mere Berylium foil of weight 0.116g was selling a whooping £1,805.00 – more than USD2400.

Aquamarine is a type of pale blue to green gemstone which has been used in ornamental jewelry. Aquamarine is also described as a type of beryl, a stone which contains a mixture of beryllium, aluminum, and silicate: other beryls include emeralds, golden beryls called heliodors, and morganites, also known as rose beryls.

Fortune-seekers descended on the Pondongoma area in BeitBridge amid reports that diamonds have been discovered there. The full value of the Beryl stone was not clear at the time of writing but it is listed in Apolyptical prophecy as the eighth precious gem stone which will stregnthen the foundations of the new city of Jerusalem in the new age.

A text in the book of Revelations (21:19-20) reads: “And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.” (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)  Watch This Space for more on Beryl and the true value of the precious gem
